[新春禱告]A NEW YEAR PRAYER [Composed by Rev. Carpus Yip 葉華牧師 (1946-2018)]
In this New Year day, here I come and pray,
that dear Lord, you would show me your way,
show the pillar of cloud to guide my day,
show the right time to go or to stay.
Let your rod bid me; let your staff help me.
Strengthen me when I am in dismay.
Lord your favor and grace lasts a life time,
but your anger lasts only a day.
If you are walking with me, I will not go astray.
The fire crackers proclaim New Year is here,
But it’s you, my Lord, control the gear.
Lord, transform me and make new things appear.
Help my life show your image real clear.
To press on the front; to forget the rear,
You can help me overcome my fear.
With your bounty you always crown my year.
Your carts overflow without a peer.
Let me now follow your tracks, press on to my new sphere.
Dear Lord, teach me to number my days,
I may gain a wise heart and more grace.
In the life’s road men walk at a quick pace.
Use me now in all possible ways.
Lazy not today; sleepy not today,
How can I afford to waste my days?
Satisfy me in the morning with your love.
Help me serve you with joy and with praise.
May you now keep your promise:
My strength will equal my days.
